THOMAS APPLEWHITE HOMESTEAD

The family of Henry Applewhite (1630-1704), who sailed from England to Jamestown, Virginia in 1656 remained in Virginia for several generations. Descendant, Thomas Applewhite (1791-1864), son of John Applewhite III and Penelope Woodard Applewhite, was born in North Carolina. He married Rachel Mixon and eight children were born to this union. Rachel died in 1837 and Thomas married Elizabeth Oglesby (1820-1898) of Mississippi in 1842. To this union were born ten children.
